Hiya, Okay, so I've got my new vortech set up on the tank. Which prompted me to do a major rock rework. Waiting for the water to clear up so I can place corals. So, the first night, I let the unit run on just a in it's set up mode. Not sure I like the placement, but hubby said we can move it if I want. Put it on yellow a bit ago and cranked it up. Didn't realize how powerful the silly thing was. Had the surface rolling there for a while. I wanted some power to move through it to kick up the detritus that I stirred up. So, what size tanks do folks have with a Vortech on it and what program do you run? I'm doing random reefcrest about 1/3 power flow. Kim/Benton, AR
I'm running 4 MP's on my 72x24. 2 MP 40's and 2 MP10's. I'm using Reef Link so I run several different modes each day. I run all 4 on Lagoon from 12am to 6 am with opposite units on synch/antisynch. At 6am I run Tidal swell for 3 hours, then Nutrient Transport for 3 hours, then Expanding pulse for 2 hours and finally Reef Crest with synch/antisynch from 2 pm till midnight.
Hiya, Doc, do you have a special program or app that allows you to run those programs? Kim/Benton, AR
It's a controller called Reef Link that can control anything Ecotech makes, including the Radion lights. With only one MP it may not be worth it to you to buy one. Alternatively you could just switch it over manually to Nutrient Transport a few hours every week.
Hiya, Yeah, with one, it's not worth it. Thought, hubby's already pushing me to get another smaller one for the other side. I'm glad he thinks I'm made of money. It took a lot for me to spend that much on a piece of equipment for the tank. What can I say, I'm frugal and I don't like change. Kim/Benton, AR
I only used 1 MP 10 for my 65 gallon. It was pretty powerful. At the moment though, my mp 10 is out of commission. Only tank up atm is a Nuvo 20 and its too powerful for the inhabitants in there.
Hiya, Hmmmm, then maybe I'll be good with just the one on my 75. I just keep changing the water patterns to keep the detritus from settling. Kim/Benton, AR
Kim, try Tidal Swell and see what you think. It and NTM have constantly changing patterns with alternating wave forms.
