Can they be hooked up to a controller to replicate sunrise sunset and lunar? I know they have the knobs on them, that makes me curious how you would dim it with a controller.

You can get a controller from boost led or rapid led. But if you haven't bought the light yet it's probably just as much to buy one with a controller. There about $80 for the controller I think

I'm gonna need 4 fixtures... The ones that come pre programmed are considerably more expensive.

Look at Aqua Illuminations for some very nice controllable led fixtures. I have just put the new Hydras on my frag tanks and am getting some Vegas to add more coverage. There are several members with these lights and have heard no complaints.

Think 3 would cover a 6 ft tank?

This is 3 Vegas on my six footer. No dark spots at all. Lights_zpsa91a75a6.jpg

Looks good, how high are they above the water line?

I may order the AI SOL, I've been looking at them..... Is there a major difference between them and other AI fixtures?

They are typically more powerful, but don't have a full spectrum. The hydra was supposed to be the best of both worlds, but I think it is just a slightly less expensive version of the Vega. 3 of those would cover your tank as well.

I havnt really seen anything that convinces me full spectrum does anything any different.... Will 3 of the Sols cover a 6 foot?

Advanced Aquarist has some really good articles about the benefits of different color spectrums in LEDs.

So will three Hydras with more controllability and better color spectrum's at a similar price. I chose the hydras and would be glad for you to come by and see them before you buy. I will be home this weekend so give me a call if you want to stop by. 501-329-6964

Thanks guys, I've looked into the Hydras more and they seem to be the way to go...

I think that is a good decision. The hard part is just making the decision and going with it. Took me a long time, but now that I have them I can worry about something else !!
May want to look at the Director to control them. I really like mine. Would love to show you how they work. Greg and Cory also have them.
