Yes! My dad bought one specifically for my tank. Last winter I lost power, and it was horrible trying to keep it going. (Although I did). I have added many corals this year, & figured that it would be good to have. I just hope that I can figure out how to turn it on if the power goes out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Those of you that have one, could you tell us how many running watts? What do you run with it? Just your tank? What equipment in your tank?
Last year I used a DC converter off my truck, it keep my tank heater and circulating pump and a couple of lights for the house for 3 days with no ill effect to the truck battery. I bought a 750w converter for $75. Sent from uh......
Mine says "4000 starting watts," "3500 rated watts." I think that I'll be able to run my whole tank on it. (Lights & all). I also have a power converter to hook up to a 12v battery as a backup. It looks like the further south you go, the ice is going to be getting worse. It looks like Memphis is going to get hit hard. Right now the weather is saying Batesville is going to see more sleet & snow, & less ice. Hoping that it works out that way. Ice is so destructive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mines 5500 watts. Will run tank and most of house... Minus the certain appliances that just drain the juice...
i have one the second thing i bought after getting in to the hobby its a 5500 starting and 3500 running amps and keeps my tank and freezers and tv and my mom and dads stuff running just fine
I installed a whole home Kohler with an automatic transfer switch and installed a small UPS battery under my tank to run my pumps for about 10 seconds until my generator takes over. It's a 20kw and will hold about 80 amps. Saved my butt a few times when I wasn't home.
