Hey everyone, this is not a new idea and many of you are probably already doing this. What do ya'll think about some sort of system for trading or giving away frags? I am not able to attend meetings because of my work schedule so I'm sure many of you already do this. It could be something as simple posting when you frag, or complex like listing corals, who has it, and when they frag. I have met so many generous people through the years and this hobby is so expensive when buying equipment and livestock this would be a great way to grow our culture. There is nothing wrong with selling frags, I've done it, and it offsets cost of the hobby, but sharing coral has a positive impact and will hopefully attract more and more members. I'm currently close to making some frags for Bauxitehog and he already shared coral with me. If you guys like this idea please post suggestions on how to organize this a bit. Perhaps we could have separate pages for SPS, LPS, Softies? We could take pics of what we have and members could "sign up" for the next frag available-We keep track of who has what and eventually several people could offer the same coral. This could also serve as a back-up incase any member lost that coral, many members potentially would have a frag available.
Great idea. If I can figure out how to do it I will make sticky threads on this forum for LPS, SPS,softies,zoas,fish and used equipment. Anyone wanting to trade or give what they have can post on the appropriate thread.
I've got a deep water that is really starting to branch and grow. Not sure species but resembles the carolinia. I've got to order a new bone cutter and I think I'm gonna snip off some small frags. I may be able to snip a tiny bonsai as well. I have a purple monti that ca be fragged pretty much anytime too. Bauxitehog gets one of the deep water, the purple monti, and possibly the bonsai. Huntindoc is gonna get the second deep water. Anyone else interested let me know. We can do a first come first serve. We really need a way to keep track of this, or a community frag tank. Lol
finally ordered bone cutters. They'll arrive next week and I'll snip a piece off the deep water if anyone wants. Bauxitehog, gotcha covered my man!!!!
Bone cutters have arrived. I'll try and make some small frags of what I have this week and post whats available. Probably most of the time it'll be frags when requested. If anyone has coral thats fraggable (made up word), lets get this going!! This should be an easy way for everyone to try new things!
I've got a birdsnest frag that is doing really well. fragged it 10 days ago and it already has 3 new forks. Sorry for the sorry cell phone pic. I'll bring this to the meeting Sat along with the pocillipora frags.
