Not looking forward to it but it looks like I will be breaking down my tank on Sat, Sept 3. My plan is to set up my temp tank at the new house the day before and transfer most of the stuff before Sat. Hopefully it will just be draining the tank and transferring any unused live rock to some Brutes with heaters and powerheads. The tank isn't too heavy. My nephew and I moved it in to the house by ourselves. Of course I was a little younger then! :D.

Anxious to get you guys ideas on my proposed "fish room"

When do we get the fish room details? After seeing what Corey did, he needs to be involved in the planning.

Actually I've already reached out to him for advice. Where the fish room will be is an area that is now a wet bar/mini kitchen area off of the man cave. Immediately behind it is a 450 square foot heated and cooled "shop" room which has a sink and is probably where I'll put my RO/DI filter and water mixing station. Then I can plumb that through the wall in to the fish room leaving more space there for QT tanks, frag tanks, sump, refugium, equipment, etc.

And you get to do ZERO lifting!

Do you have Corey's number? Can you call him and give him my number. he and I were talking about frag tanks several months ago and I want to know if he got my email. I have a feeling it went to a spam folder.

Well I moved the temp tank and my RO/DI to the new house tonight. I think I can get 75 to 100 gallons of water by tomorrow evening. I'll set up and fill the tank Friday and be ready to break down the old tank on Saturday. Hopefully it won't take too long as I hope to have most of the rock and coral transferred over Friday night. When we get the last of the rock out I'll be able to catch the Gramma, goby, firefish and damsel. I'll have my 29 gallon QT set up to put the fish that aren't staying so we can catch them easily whenever their new owners are ready for them. Kind of a sad day but looking forward to better ones in the near future!

    Hiya,

I'm still available to come help Saturday if you need it, or I can just come get the little stinkers. Just let me know when I need to be there.

Sorry for not getting back earlier, this move is killin' me! Had to delay the breakdown a day as the new tank wasn't quite ready early today. I have transferred almost all of the corals that are going to the new tank. Tomorrow about 1 PM I'll begin breaking down the tank.

Those that are getting fish can get them some time tomorrow afternoon (depends on when we can catch them!). There are several corals remaining. There is a 6"+ orange monti cap, a good size metallic green millipora, and several pocillipora. There will be lots of live rock available as well. If some one wants them I might part with my pair of blood shrimp. Kind of hard since I've had them 3.5 years but I don't know if there's room for them and my other shrimp.

If you can't or don't want to come tomorrow for the fish, don't worry. I have my 29 gallon QT set up and I will house them there till you can come get them.

Hate to see this tank go. But can't wait to see the new setup.

Thanks Alan. I have to recover from the last 4 days before I start to think about what's next. I broke the tank down by myself. Last night my brother came over for me to sew up a laceration on his hand and I made him help me move the tank to the new house....LOL. It wouldn't have been too bad except for all the other stuff I really needed to be doing to help my wife with the move. 4 days of 14-18 hours of work has me reeling a little.

I for sure want to set the DSA 155 back up and use it as a wrasse tank. The next build I really want to be an SPS, angel/butterfly dominant tank..we'll see. Regal Angels are the fish that first attracted me to the hobby.

One weird thing happened during the breakdown. I was transferring some rock out of a tote to a bucket. There was a tiny amount of water in the bottom of the tote and there to my surprise was my 1" blue coral banded shrimp. I added him to the tank almost a year ago and never saw him again...till last night. He seems to be doing fine in the temp tank.
