Hello all! Im new to the area, but not he hobby. Moved to Wynne in August for a teaching job. Ive been a member of In2deep for 4 years or so and decided since Im now in this area, that Ineeded to be a member on this group. I currently have a little 14 gallon biocube set up. When we moved, I had to leave my 75 behind. My hubby bought me a 32 gallon biocube for Christmas so Ill be setting it up before long! Cant wait to maybe make a few meetings and make some new salty friends!
Welcome to RRMAS Mrs. Best!!! Definitely make it out to a meeting we have a lot of good people in the group. When you set up your BioCube you should start a build thread so we can all follow along
Welcome! Our meetings are typically 3rd Saturday each month. The February meeting will be in Benton. Hope to see you there!
Thank you all! I actually have a 14 gallon biocube up now. It's keeping the sting of loosing the 75 away some. I seem to do better with smaller tanks. The 75 killed everything I put in it. I had tons of nice corals before it crashed. Part pump leaking voltage, part heater malfunction, part rocks leaching phosphates causing tank to turn into a green jungle of algea. The 14 is doing much better. I have my two clowns and mandarin in a 30 gallon with hob until I can get the bigger biocube up and stocked with pods. 14 is coral only right now. don't want to over do the bioload in such a small tank and the 30 allows me to keep a high cheato concentration for pods and the mandarin. Currently in the market for good pest free live rock, a nano skimmer for the 32 cube, and a stand....anyone know a good cabinet maker lol?
Welcome Mrs. Best! I'm envious. I struggle with my nano (10 gal IM Fusion). That's a good hubby that buys you a tank for Christmas...hang on to him! Look forward to meeting you guys at a meeting and seeing your tank progress on the site. We love threads with pictures!
How much rock are you looking for? Maybe you and @cameronkclements can partner with each other since you are both in the market. Also, I do know a carpenter in Hot Springs but I don't know his prices. @huntindoc have you talkted to Linda recently? Doesn't she have a friend or neighbor that is a carpenter?
I'm not very active on the forum, but my wife and I have been in the hobby several years now, and I actually happen to be a finish carpenter. John, (Deton8it) actually messaged me on Facebook and let me know you were looking for a cabinet builder. You can email me at "connellcustomcarpentry@gmail.com" I get instant notifications and respond quickly.
Hiya, Welcome to the club Mrs. Best!!! I've got a 75 and a 29 gallon biocube set up. having to fight cyno in it right now, but I don't have a skimmer on it, so it's my fault. I tried a 2 gallon pico and couldn't do it. I think the smallest I'd be good at keeping would be the 29 gallon. Kim/Benton, AR
Thank you. I just picked that up yesterday from the store in Searcy. This is my first attempt at sponge and it was actually sold as a spider sponge. Its actually a tree sponge which is much easier from what Ive read. Basically they need high indirect flow to keep algae off them and spot feeding of small particle foods such as phyto. So Ill also be on the hunt for someone who can give me a start of phyto and tell me how to cultivate it lol
Tank is still doing good! Sponge is still just as big and just as pretty so i guess its doing ok. I added a lawnmower blenny to the tank. He stays hidden in the rocks all the time so i never see the little booger. He does seem to be munching on some of the algea tho so thats good!
