any thoughts on how to catch a coral beauty without tearing the tank apart?! I caught the 6 line yesterday using Doc's fish trap but I guess he CB was watching because it hasn't gone near it. I've tried clipping seaweed inside the box ... frozen rods veggies blend ... and today I pulled out the frozen blood worms ... I've even gone to the point of hanging towels on the tank sides to block me from view but still allow me to see if it goes in the box to drop the door. This fish needs to be out of the tank yesterday!
So today is tank transfer day ... the coral beauty is still swimming happily in the DT. I have no idea what to do but it's looking like she will get to go through TTM by herself later at this point. Either that or just prolong the TTM once I add her to the bunch to make sure she gets her 12 days in. Erg! I whipped out fish eggs and chopped white fish today. Didn't take the bait. Wondering now if I can add a piece of pipe in and then block the ends if the decides to check it out. The fish have been swimming around in the pipe in the QT and it gave me the idea.
Don't feed it at all for a while. The problem with most foods is they won't stay in the trap. I take a piece of raw shrimp and put it on a veggie clip in the box. If it gets hungry enough it will go in.
I turned off the pumps so it pretty much stayed in ... I'll try the shrimp in the clip tomorrow! Thanks for the idea!
I officially have the most stubborn fish ever. It keeps looking at it ... wanting to go get it and just swimming by. Hasn't eaten anything except algae off the back wall in 2 days and I put a thawed shrimp in there ... my Nassarius snail is desperately trying to figure out how to get in the box but the angel won't have it. I did feed the snail a piece before I put the big chunk in ... there's a small piece in the clip and the rest just in the box.
You tried cutting the top off a Gatorade bottle. Then put a small rock and a cube of food in it. May work better if it's on the bottom of the tank
I haven't. I'll see if I have something big enough for it to get into ... it's probably at least 1.5" tall, I'd say. I wish I could get the trap on the bottom but there isn't any room.
