im not super prevy on electrical ballast for my led lights, there no name and no data plate on them. All they have is a 16X3w. I understand that there are 16 lights with 3watts but one of the drivers (ballast) are flickering and some days it will Switch all the way on but some day I think it’s trying to give my fish a seziuer
pwm, pulse width modulated power supplies, ie, your led ballast is adjusted by a simple 12 volt supply. The brightness knob varies the voltage usually from 3 to 12 vdc. This makes the width of the "on" pulse, wider. which in turn makes the led stay on longer. You see, the led is just turning on and off really fast. At maximum brightness, the "pulse" is maximum length, and the led lights for the longest period. It may go to the point that the LED never ever shuts off, with no zero part between pulses, but I doubt. Regardless, this happens really fast. Your eyes can only detect things that change in brightness, 30 times a second, 30 hertz. So, if the led is switching on and off faster than 30 times a second, your eyes would never notice the off period. In reality, pwm LED drivers switch on and off thousands of times a second. Now, if you can actually see the lights flickering, turning on and off, your pwm LED driver is bad. You could actually trouble shoot it, they are a simple circuit, but in reality, people just buy new ones. You wouldn't be buying a whole new light, just a new driver. I would be willing to bet if you read the part number on your driver, put that number in google, you could find where to buy it, usually for less than $20. Sorry so long, but I figured you where asking for a solution. Of course you could just buy new lights, but I am afraid you will have to either give up a kidney or learn to ebay and craigslist
It’s not the driver it’s the whole ballast, and there is no datat on either the light or the ballast.
Post a picture of the driver, look for the data plate with the listed UL there should be info somewhere
These are the only markings on the whole setup, lights and all. They have the Euro plug so thinking there forigne sold.

So I’m looking for a replacement For the “driver” or whatever is making it flicker. I just don’t know where to start for looking for replacement parts except for digging into it and looking for a part number on the driver inside the box on the cord.
Well you do know that the LEDs are in strings of 16, and they are 3 Watts each. Therefore your replacement must be able to radiate 48 Watts of power. Since each string is designed to be run by 12vdc, your driver must be able to supply 4 amps of constant current. Unless you are looking for an exact replacement, you might consider just getting an LED driver that meets those specs. There will be 120 vac coming in on two wires. There will be 12 vdc (at least it looks like 12vdc because it is still going to be pwm even if it's not adjustable). So the only thing you need to determine it's which is the positive wire, and which is the negative, before they driver fails altogether
And I’m of the mindset of just buying a new one instead of rigging something I know nothing about. My luck, I’d fry my whole tank. Good luck!
I know that Marine World in Hot Springs has some good lights and, extra drivers as well. I just got a couple of lights there - updating to support high light corals in what was a fish and mushroom tank.
