Hey everyone! I am trying to figure out why my dang chaeto isn't growing! I have a it growth with the cheap regular household incandescent bulb on my 60 frag tank and on the 180 its has a zetlight E200 that is designed to grow the stuff! I have nitrates in the water and phosphates so I am not sure why it hasn't grown at all.....unless it is growing at a snails pass and I don't notice it growing. I only ask since my last setup grew chaeto like a weed and I was taking softball size chunks out every week. Let me know what you think and what you think I should try.
I'm using this refugium light and my chaeto quickly fills up the available space. I hate to harvest it because of all the life in it...pods, brittle stars, etc. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/ecochic-waterproof-refugium-led-light-8831-00-tunze.html
I hated just throwing the chaeto out. I always tried to ask people if anyone wanted any and I also would try to feed some of it to my tangs which enjoyed it as a snack. I just am not sure what the limiting factor is. My levels in my 180......which I finally measured for the first time the other week looked great. NO3-4ppm PO4-.13 cal-430 Alk- 7.6 pH-8.0+. Just not sure the light on the 180 is a refugium LED and I have it running from 8 PM to 10 or 11 am the next morning.
