I would appreciate any ideas the board members have for an award that the club could give to a person selected as the "Arkansas Marine Aquarist of the Year Award". There are several options out there: Acrylic, Glass, Wood, Metal, etc. We could ask for nomination at our next meeting. Please let me know your thoughts, ideas! One suggestion is an etched glass cube with a marine fish of our choosing. It would look like the fish is etched in the center of the cube and then have a small engraved label on a mount. The next time everyone is in Walmart go to the photo lab and look at the display that they have for creating these images. The cubes are about 3 to 4 inches with the image of any image that you would like put into it. I think that they will mount them along with some engraving. It is a quick way to come up with a unique award quickly with little effort with as much as is going on with our upcoming Reef Fest Conference. The BOD can propose nominations and vote via a closed forum the week after the October meeting. Kathy has suggested that we set down some guide lines for presentation of the award to prevent any conflicts, this hadn't occured to me. I think that the very nature of an award means that there will be losers and some negative feeling as a result which is just the nature of the beast. But it would be very helpful to have a format to come up with the winner (criteria). I would really like to avoid getting in to a committee to do this if at all possible.
It would be good if each BOD member would post what they believe the criteria should be for the nominations.

We voted in the last meeting to spend 75.00 on an acrylic award and Ralph and Cindy Cornelliuse are the recipients. They will be presented the award at the Christmas Party. I notified them today.
Well, I thought we were going to set-up a post on the forum to nominate people. I guess that is what I get for missing a meeting. I intended to nominate someone that I believed was a very deserving person. One that had a lot of the qualities that had been discussed here. Most of the club members have never even met Ralph and Cindy. What were the qualifications that led to their nomination?
