Hi, Everybody! Chris may be feeling a bit guilty over not keeping the tank I won at the raffle... We are shopping for a 40-45 gal tank that comes at least partially plumbed with sump, etc; the idea of drilling into glass gives me the heebie-jeebies--we're just not handy like that. We're very interested in the 42 gal CAD Lights Versa -- does anyone have any opinions on it, good or bad?

Strike while the iron is hot Waterlogged....before he changes his mind. :D

I'm not familiar with those tanks but it looks good in the catalog. I like that it's a full reef ready and not an AIO (not that there's anything wrong with AIO's). Like the corner overflow and return nozzle.

    Definitely!

Same here--as well as the plumbing kit--I won't have to figure that part out. Also like (it appears) that the 16-gal sump is in addition to the 42 in the display. So many advertisements just give a total of the two. Also the glass top; the NUVO just has a mesh top.

Actually I like a mesh top better. Allows better gas exchange. Does allow more evaporation but that's not a problem. What does that whole system sell for (tank, stand, sump)?

I have a Cadlights 50g Artisan tank and have been very happy. It's easy to make mesh top for it instead of using the glass if you want.

I had forgotten that your 50 was a Cadlights John. Post some pictures so Waterlogged can see it!

Yes, please! :) The 42g setup costs $699.99 at Marine Depot and basically the same at BRS. I haven't seen it anywhere else yet, but I haven't been looking very long.

Many thanks! Looks like a great system. I appreciate your write-up on the initial equipment--sometimes there's almost too many choices, so it's nice to see what others come up with.

    Hiya,

If you can afford and have the space for a larger tank...GO FOR IT!!! Bigger is better and easier to maintain.
