Where is the brain you got at the pet country event ? The one that was raffled off didn't you buy it.

  12. I lost him... [IMG] it's the only piece of coral I have lost. I came home with about 9 frags from Frag Fest & all are thriving, except for that one. Next to the cut... he got some type of infection I guess... 1st I though it was bleaching, so I moved him down a bit in the tank, he started turning more white and the white started to creep across him... I went to Northside as soon as it started & bought some dip they recommended (Lugol's Solution) & tried that, but it didn't seem to help.

I have been wondering how everyone else closed brain coral from Frag Fest is doing...

My Red Chalice coral is really doing good!

This is what I have in the reef now... many of the frags came from Frag Fest and are doing great !!!

CUC (snails, Ceriths, Nassarius, Margarita Turbos, Astrea & Banded Trochus - one Emerald crab - one Skunk Cleaner) *** Coral - Two Color Aacanthastrea, Red Chalice Coral, Birdsnest Pink Coral, Cup Coral, Torch Coral , Open Brain Coral Orange, Keyna Tree Coral, Green Star Polyp, Frogspawn, Pom Pom Xenia, Green Eyed Zoanthids, Candy Cane Coral, Ricordea Yuma, Flowerpot Goniopora & Bluestriped Mushroom *** Fish - (1) Scooter Blenny (2) Ocellaris Clownfish

Dont feel bad glen mine died also. Its the only thing from reef fest that I lost as well.

  15. GRIMMETT and cableguy_415 thanks for the post back, I really have had great success so far & have been very happy with all the coral I have gotten, Frag Fest was great!!!

I was a little bummed when I lost my 1st piece of coral, but I guess that can happen sometimes... I still have lots to learn, I just try my best to study, read, learn & listen to others that have been in the hobby for many years. I have great water quality, I test often and I try to do all I can to provide good husbandry to my coral, fish & critters.

I am looking forward to Reef Fest next month and would really encourage everyone to attend !

your tank is beautiful! I've never seen duncans like that, the one I have is on a long stem, I only have one head and it doesnt stay open all of the time. I'm gonna try and get some pics of my 46 bowfront on soon.

  17. Thanks jtricer1973 - for the nice compliment ! I look forward to seeing pics for your tank ! It's fun to post pics & then look back over time & see how our tanks progress [IMG]

My neighbor just got a new Nikon 5000, that Nikon just came out with, for $850, he showed it to me & I shoot this pic, thought I would share.

I have been using a Cannon Elph SD790 point & shoot that takes good pics, but I may need to get me on of these dslr's. Seems to be a real value at $850 with lens, the new D5000 has the same internals as the Nikon D90 I am told.

Anyone else have one of these & like them? Would this be a good entry level dslr camera? Any input appericated...
