So I thought I'd been battling green hair algae in my bc29 until I was researching some macro algaes and saw Maiden's hair algae. It's a darker green tuft that seems much more uniform and pretty than the pics of hair algae. Mine is the same. I could never find good pics of similar looking hair algae online. Also, mine is rather hard to manually remove and this stumped me as everyone always said it was super easy to remove and suck out. It WILL NOT suck out. I have trimmed it and either sucked it out of the water column or let the filter grab it. I really like how pretty it is BUT it has taken over the rocks. I can't find anything to eat it either.

    Here Are some pics. Thoughts?

It is limited to the rocks, powerhead and a couple snails. Won't grow on the sand.

  2. My first thought would have been turf.
    Have you looked into Vibrant?

Agree Mark. Never seen hair algae with such solid coverage. Is Vibrant a form of carbon dosing?

i have not. These are in my bc29 so I'm not too worried as all that is left in there is a blue damsel (that needs a new home), a peppermint shrimp and a few snails. And lots of pods!

And I looked up turf algae.. I think that may be it! It seems hit or miss for critters to eat it. Since it's mostly in the bc29 I'll probably just remove the rocks and soak them and let dry once I rehome the damsel.
