I know for a fact I have hair worms in my 60g mixed reef. It's a 4x1 base 2 ft tall tank and I don't have a lot of the bottom covered in live rock, mainly my fine sand substrate. So there's 3 cubic feet or so open. And I have around 12 hair worms that I can see. And have counted

It started as a couple but it's multiplying like wildfire. When is it to much? And when/if it hits that point what i do to fix it

    Hiya,

Yeah, never heard of hair worms. Do you mean Feather dusters?

One type of hair worm lives in sea animals such as crabs and shrimp
. After mating, females lay as many as six million eggs and then die

six million is to many, don't let them breed

everything you ever wanted to know about worms
    I like this
"One of the characteristics of worms everywhere in the aquatic environment is that they are eaten by fish; basically a worm in water is simply a cylinder of flesh wiggling along and waiting to be eaten. "
of course bristle/fire worms put a stop to that, but it is still a good way to look at it otherwise

I was thinking my wrasse ate bristle worms. I don't ever see them come out in my 85. I see them in the cube when I add food but never in the 85 (where the wrasse has been until recently).

My H. chrysus ate them with gusto as do all of my present Halichoeres wrasses. They have wiped them out to the point I don't remember the last time I saw one. My 10 gallon nano....that's another story.
