Hey guys looking for a good place to get some led lights for a frag tank for a 30g any suggestions "Not looking to spend alot"

  2. Lighting….So many choices….
I am using ocean revive S026, two units on a 4x2x30in footprint. Keeping mostly SPS with great results. I'm also using the same unit on a 30 tall freshwater planted tank with equally great results.
My vote is for LED, and something in the price range of the ocean revive (there are other brands). Inevitably there will be new more advanced lighting options coming to market so don't spend a lot on lights cause you'll be changing in 3 or so years anyway. Just my two cents.

I would recommend RapidLED.com. and make yourself your own LED unit. It is very cheap and if you aren't good with soldering, you can go with the solderless units which are super simple to construct. I currently run the newest Radion Gen3 PRO and it isnt much different from the RapidLEDs units in terms of performance, assuming you know what ratios of LEDs, intensities and etc to run things at. The only thing I like about the Radion 3 PRO is that its pretty easy to adjust light settings, has crazy good timers and has a sleek look but the unit is ridiculously costly otherwise for such things.

The number one thing I like about the DIY RapidLED units were that you could easily change and add new LEDs easily. I started with a 2:1 blue/white LED ratio and started to add UV/Purple/Cyan/Red/Green later on down the line. If you watch how the Radion units developed over time, you would notice that you had to pay a ton of cash as they upgraded units but if you observed the changes or additions in their LEDs to each unit, it wasn't anything that special. For the addition of the UVs, you pretty much had to fork out a ton of cash, in the triple digits, for the next generation models, while the DIY LED units, it costs about 1-2 dollars for the LED itself. So if you needed to add 4 UV LEDs to your unit, it only cost about 8 bucks.

The DIY units are cheap and can be upgraded continuously as newer LEDs hit the market.
