In September, I bought a nice piece of LR w/coraline algae (?) on it and was told it wouldn't grow under the standard flourescent bulb that came with my hood (very, very unsophisticated 55gal FOWLR). I got a coralife 50/50 40 watt T12 flourescent and the rock is still nice and red/purple - so I guess it's doing it's thing! The bulb burned out last night so I put the old standard bulb back in. How long can I use this bulb without losing the good stuff on my rocks? I plan to go to NSA Thursday to take advantage of those discounts!! Will a week with the old bulb hurt anything?

You should be ok for the short time your bulb is out. With FOWLR tanks it's not critical. Hope you're still enjoying the hobby. Hope you're planning on going to the meeting Sat. I have room if you want to ride.

Norman my darling! Good to hear from you! Thanks for the quick reply. Doug has to work tomorrow so I'm home with the kids. I really, really want to go to the meetings, but hopefully next time. I am going to NSA Thursday - are you going? Maybe we can meet up and pick brains. (unfortunately, there's not much to pick from my brain!!!) If you need a ride to Maumelle, I'd be happy to pick you up. just give me a call!

    Thanks again friend! [IMG]
