I know to dip EVERYTHING, but what about QT?! How long should a typical coral QT last? I kept my zoas separate for quite a while because they kept having issues.. and now my montis are in QT until I can starve off all the nudis in the DT. But what about a typical coral? AND, should I be worried about transferring anything from the QT to the DT? When I moved my zoas I dipped them in coral RX and then rinsed in 2 different containers of fresh SW before putting them in the DT. Should this kill off anything that may have been on them? (Probably should have asked this before moving them!)

Thanks for the video! Since I'll be setting up a separate tank for the new corals with clean water, I'll definitely keep a look out for pests during the qt period. I'll shoot for 2 months as well but definitely need better lighting ASAP!

So once the frag tank is up, would it be ok to move a rock from the damsel tank for filtration and the blenny from QT, for algae or is it best just left tank and frags?

I'm still worried I'm leaving nudis in the QT and almost feel as if I should remove everything to a bucket, clean tank, fill with fresh salt water, re dip everything before going back in.

I guess I need to get some Bayer too.

Lots to think about and get together quickly!

  4. @Deton8it knows the egg/lifecycle time period. I can't remember what he said offhand.

Hopefully he will chime in soon. Going to pick up some Bayer later today. New corals and new frag rack should both arrive today. :D

I think I may move everyone to the clean 20 then clean out the 10 and use that for the new corals. It will save a step in the process!

I'll post some pics once I have everything up and running! :) I'm so excited about the new corals!

The Bayer you need is very specific. There is only one that people use successfully.

Crap! I knew there was something I forgot to get today! Yeah, I know which one. When I looked for it in the past I wasn't able to find it though.

Yeah. I'll check later today. I ended up just doing a coral rx dip/squirt/swish, rinse, seachem dip, rinse ... there really wasn't a lot that came off compared to some I have dipped. I did find a tiny long legged star. I think I saved it.

Where are you normally getting your coral frags?

Depends. I've gotten them from The Fish Tank, club frags, the guy I bought one tank from and then all the ones that came with this tank, and some from online. I've dipped everything before placing in tank except for the ones that were established. I honestly think the MEN came with this tank because I remember seeing them in the temp housing and I thought it was clumped sand stirred up from the move. I guess they were growing enough to keep them fed without too much damage ... or I didn't realize it was damage.

I am offended at MEN being used as an acronym for such a horrible creature! :D

(I think you should copyright it! It's painfully appropriate)

Lol! It wasn't me! I just used it ... and often my reply to something about "man" is that it is short for "woman" but that just doesn't seem appropriate here! ;):p
