    I have a frag of the toadstool from the Splash and in the last few day's it's started turning green. It appear's to be changing color. The frag looks really healthy and seems to be eating well, it's just changing color.
    WHY?

    Filtration is a Marineland bio wheel
    Light's are 2 set's of Corallife Nova slimpaq T5's, 2 14 w 460nm actinic and 2 14 watt 10,000k Daylught
    Powerheads are 1 visijet and 1 powersweep 214
    Seaclone 100
    Parameter's are ...
    NO2=0
    NH3/NH4=0
    NO3=.2
    PH=8.2
    Gravity=1.025
    Phosphate=0
    Calcium=400
    Alk=9
    I hand feed once a day to the ones that need it. In the tank I have GSP, yellow polyps, Daisy polyps, Button polyps, Ring of fire zoo's, Candycane, Bubble coral, Pagoda, sarco toadstool, leather, people eater's, Kenya tree, Xenia, red mushrooms, green pimple mushroom, unidentified mushroom, green strips mushrooms. Most of these are frag size but I have a colony of three of the corals.
    In the tank is the one tang and a clean up crew of crabs and snails. That's everything. :)
    FEEDING_When I introduce a new food I do it very slowly. A lot of the time I've seen them not take it the first couple of times but do the next. That keeps waste down in the tank. I rotate feeding's (depending on coral) photoplex, cyclopeeze, frozen shrimp, and Hikari frozen marine angel mix.
    Maintence- I do a 5% or 10% weekly if needed. Tests are done wekly but if coarls look unhappy I run them again. I check tank in the morning and again at night.
    All of the corals look great and multiplying quickly.
    That's all I can think of about the tank right now :)

    I'm working on getting a larger tank with the proper set up at present. I should have it within in a couple of month's.
    Meanwhile..
    Would larger water changes and cut back on feeding's keep everything going good temporarily? I'll search Reef central and see about the modification.
    Planning on giving the tang a good home soon somewhere else. The tank is full of live rock and he just doesn't have amuch room.I'm sure that's why the two fish jumped out.
    You have the powerheads in red too. Are they not right for a 30 gallon? I have to keep them diverted to the glass and they still blow the whole tank.

    I didn't take it the wrong way, I appreciate the help. :)
    I really appreciate the offer for the canister filter. I'll see what I can do with my schedule, Thank you! I know the set up isn't up to par, I'm just hoping to keep my corals happy til I get the larger tank, that's why so many water changes etc. I'll check and see about getting some better T5 bulbs, or could I add another double strip and help? The bulbs are about 2 month's old that are on it now.

    The tank is 30L x12 1/2W. I only have clearence in width to 10" of light's because of the filter and skimmer. (OK don't scream and jump up and down being frustrated with me LOL) The best thing may be for me to just upgrade the light's, I'll check ebay. What would you suggest? Please keep in mind I'll only be using it for a couple of month's or so.

    If you're upgrading your tank at some point, you might take a look at www.hellolights.com and get an MH fixture that you can use on your new tank too. I bought two 250W double-ended sets from them at MACNA.

  8. Yeah, clomon did a thread on this in the DIY section. Lowe's didn't have any good looking fixtures, and I've not been to HD yet. I'll probably look up an electrical supply outfit as well. I don't mind stuff that looks DIY, I just want it to be less ghetto than what I have now. I'm pretty sure I'm going to use an EVC ballast/bulb combo, 10k or 14k I'm not sure.

  9. Fwiw, mine has taken on a bit of a green hue as well. I've still not seen great extension, but the tips do look red.

    Over the last week or two I've added about a 2" sandbed. Between that and re-aquascaping, I seem to have royally pissed off all the corals except the pagoda. I expect everyone will cheer up soon enough. When I buy a new battery for my camera I'll snap some pictures.

    Thank you all very much!
    Jaysuncle-sounds good I'll check it out. Thank you :)

    Tim & Ben-I'll do a search on Clomon and see what the fixture is too.
    I like doing DIY stuff but I want it to look nice too. I'm going to have a hood so it should will be hiden anyway right?

    Ben-I'll look forward to the pictures, I love to see other's tanks.

    Here's my Pagoda

    Would a Halogen light use the same ballast as an MH?

  13. Those are only fixtures. It's a box with a reflector, piece of protective glass, and a set of ceramic clips for a double ended bulb. One would still need a ballast and bulb of your choosing.

    I have seen up to 250 aver a 10 g done successfully without an auto topoff. And I've seen a 150 over a 3 quart vase with an auto topoff that looked great.
