Ok, the sailfin has decided that it's the owner of the tank. Introduced a GORGEOUS pyramid butterfly and it was on. The pyramid is the only thing close to the sailfin's size. Full on using it's tail, chasing, etc. Someone tell me how to end this, before I end the tang. I am honestly considering a fish fry. Ideas?
Will try, but the freakin Sailfin is not having it. Was going to remove him and send him to the pet store. He's been a bully to all but the smallest fishes introduced.
Not unusual behavior for a Sailfin unfortunately. Any fish shaped like him (butterfly, angel, another tang) is gonna be a target. If you could put him in time out in a QT tank for a couple of weeks it might work. Problem is pyramids are pretty mild (at least mine were) and yours likely won't ever try to dominate other fish.
Precisely, doc. I can lose the Sailfin for credit. If I wanted another, buy a small one and get things under order. Or, I could pop a yellow, blue hippo, and kole of all the same size and have a nice collection of things I wanted in the first place. Though I have to admit, I am smitten with butterflies now.
ok, the fighting has ended. The pyramid is able to go where he wants. Tank boss has finished his hazing it appears. He may have to go before I buy my Genicanthus angel. Not willing to risk one or two fish so he can be a douchebag.
Use a mirror next time. I have a bully powder blue. The mirror helps but doesn't stop it totally. I had a problem when I tried to add the multibar out of my qt by its self. I ended up putting the order fish in the tank out of the qt, copperband and wrasse. That distracted him from just beating up on the angel but did chase the order fish for awhile. I would suggest adding multiple fish of a similar size that way they don't get singled out. Just an FYI he still chases them now and the but it's much better then the first couple days.
