I don't think it's ingredients do much of anything. I'll try to post that question to Humblefish to see though.

I talked to seachem and they said the metroplex was safe if fed with food and to make sure the fish eat most of it. I have fed very sparingly and only when they were close and would get it.

I have moved the clown to QT. She was rubbing all over her hammer. I have not treated her again in the last few days.

I know selcon is just vitamins but I'm hoping it will help to strengthen her immune system since she's been perfectly fine for all this time (the guy has had this set up for at least 2 years and had the fish before the new tank) and I've had them for 2 months with basically no problems. I haven't introduced more fish but I guess something could have come in on the corals even though they have all been dipped.

Because I've had them for 2 months and I'm sure I'm feeding differently than he was to some degree, I'm wondering if nutrition is failing and that with some form of stress, possibly just from the move and temporary housing (since I don't ever see the fish fighting) it may be allowing suppressed ich to surface. I'm grasping at straws here, but I figured some added vitamins couldn't hurt!

I went out of town for about 30 hours and had moved the clown before that to the QT. We got back yesterday evening. Looking at her today she appears healthy with no spots. I'm not moving her back yet though. I want to at least dip her or something to try to treat the problem. (I also had a torch (my favorite one) halfway die on me while I was gone! But that's a different thread!)

    She IS eating now though!!

Who knows. If it is ich it could have just been the stress of the move or the water is wet reason. Ich is cyclical. It waxes and wanes. Doesn't seem to need a reason to flare up. Clowns seem to handle it better than most fish.

Completely agree with trying to maximize nutrition and water quality. If it looks to be doing well you can move him back. Doesn't do any good to cure him and put him back in the tank where Ich is present.

This is what he said about the API Super Ich Cure.

"As per it's MSDS, the only useful ingredient API Super Ick Cure contains is malachite green. I actually conducted a lot of experiments using MG back when we lived in London; its big in Europe for some reason (which is ironic because they also consider it to be a carcinogen.) I used it (for 30 days) to treat fish with FW Ich, Crypto and Amyloodinium. While conditions did improve somewhat during treatment, the white spots kept coming back throughout which proved to me either: a) MG is not capable of eradicating ALL theronts/dinospores b) I wasn't using a strong enough concentration of MG (but I wasn't too far from the lethal dosage). Most of the fish with velvet eventually died, but I did save all the fish with FW & Marine Ich by treating for 30 days with Cupramine.

There are many studies which talk about MB's use as a antimicrobial, and I have had some success using it to treat bacterial infections. I plan on experimenting with it again soon for that purpose only. But not as an antiparasitic."

Thanks for the info! The newest member to the group is the 6 line wrasse and he's a b@stard that I cannot catch for the life of me. I'm trying the water bottle trap method but need to starve him a while longer. He's literally harassing and nipping at every fish he sees and also picking at Coral. I may have to break the whole tank apart to get him. I would pay well for someone to come help me get him out without having to remove my rock work! I just want my peaceful reef back. :( As you can imagine, he's the one causing all the others stress and sores and letting ich take hold. Know if anyone who specializes in such a task?! Sorry for the dramatics but it's really upsetting and disheartening when they are fighting through my frogspawn and ripping polyps off.

Man! I hope I don't ever have to catch Wrassey! He bebops around the tank all day but I know he's a fast swimmer and good hider! Same for the coral beauty! I was REALLY surprised when I was able to catch the clown in just a couple tries. She must have been feeling pretty bad. She seems pretty happy right now so I'll observe for a few more days and see how it goes before putting her back. I wish I could catch Wrassey and the angel so I could let the tank go fallow to hopefully erradicate ich but I feel that would be a huge task!

Jarjor, I have a large fish trap if there is room in your tank/rock work. Most fish are not afraid of it and not too hard to catch if you're patient. You are welcome to borrow it. Six lines are notorious for acting like that. He's just being a six line! :).

This is one of the reasons I QT. I get my fish so tame that they are not hard to catch at all. I have 4 or 5 that I can literally catch with my hands any time I want to! :).

Wow! What are the dimension of the trap, roughly speaking?

It's 11 1/2" tall, 9 1/2" wide and 5" front to back. It goes in like it sits there and the suction cups hold it in place. The sliding door is being held up in this picture.

I may have to borrow it next! I'd really love to rid the tank of ich before introducing more fish to the mix! What's another 6 weeks of QT?!

If you want to do that it will take treating all of your fish. And keeping them out of the DT for 72 days.....not 6 weeks. That's a lot of work!

What's great, is that as soon as I got him out, the clowns and royal gramma came out of hiding and ate like champs! Note to other newbies: "A Wrasse will Harass" is not just a fun saying. Live and learn!

Now don't get down on all wrasse....LOL. The paracheilinus genus is the home of the aggressive wrasse. Fairy wrasse, Halichoeres, macropharyngodon and especially flasher wrasse are very mild mannered. I have 8 in my tank and may add that many more. As you could see in the video, no aggression even at feeding time.

You are right! 11 weeks! (But might as well go the full 3 months, 13 weeks) lol I counted by 12 for some reason. (I guess because it goes into 72 so easily) Lol (I really can count!) and I was planning on treating all fish and leaving DT fallow. I'd rather go ahead and treat everything now before I add the new fish into the DT for them to get infected.

Since he doesn't need it now, would it be ok if I borrowed your trap? I could come get it and bring it back at the meeting.
