[IMG]>Okay everyone need a little of your expertise. I just ordered some ricordia's and zoanthids. The zoa's are new to me. Is there any type of dip you would recommend or anything in particular I need to inspect for prior to adding to my display tank. I appreciate everyone's help. Oh yeah what is a thread without pic [IMG] he is some of my future additions(the zo's atleast). I figured these would really add alot of color to my tank

I have some of that but the bottle doesnt really give any directions as far as a dip

Dose exactly as the directions say, this is a strong solution and must not be overdosed.
In a bucket or container add 40 drops to 1 gallon of mixed water. Immerence for 10 to 15 minutes. This is safe for hard and soft corals

cool. Thanks Marti. Do you think it would be safe to treat for flukes at the same time by adding to mixture?

Oh no-I do not think it would be a good idea to add anything to the mixture.
Someone else will need to chime in about flukes.

    rinsing off new arrivals

After my recent battle with ich, I now do several rinses of new items that need to go quickly into the tank but that may carry parasites. For instance, invertebrates like shrimp that may need better water quality than in my QT tank.

Just put new items in a little breeder's box and leave in a bucket acclimating for an hour or two. (Hopefully any hitchhiking parasites will fall to the bottom of the bucket.) Then set up a few containers of saltwater from your tank that you'll just swish the breeder box in one at a time. Basically you're trying to wash off any parasites that may be accompanying your new acquisition. I would NOT do this with sponges, or any invertebrates sensitive to air, but it's not too much work to avoid nasty ich.

Ich and the other fish parasites are so hard to kill that I doubt the Lugol's is going to get them. Formalin and copper halfway kill the fish as it is.

I got my zoanthids in a couple weeks ago and did the dip as instructed and everything is doing great. Thanks for the help everyone. Here is a few pics of some of my other last minute additions before shipping. They haven't colored up as well as the pics because they are under my vho's and the pics are under halides. I think I am going to move some of them into my T5 tank instead so they will brighten up. I just hope I will be able to find someone to be willing to take some off my hands if they ever start to take over my tank [IMG] I got me a couple rics too, I just couldn't help myself. I hope I can find some really cool zoa's at MACNA

All are VERY nice. The blues are awesome! I like the red ones in the first pic too. Maybe I can trade something for them when you get ready to frag them? :) :)

no problem cindy. It will be a while before I can afford to place another order. The good thing about her site is that you have 10 days to complete the order so just keep on eye on her site for new stuff. Shipping isn't cheap but maybe in the future we can order together and split the shipping. She does group buys as well. She has some awesome lemon drops on there right now that are gorgeous. If you find something you want you better jump on it or it will be gone before you know it.

Another site I have used many times is Sealifeinc.net. Ken is great. He doesnt have many zoo's but I order alot of rics and gorgonians and clean up crew from him and he always send coool freebies too. I have always been very happy with his livestock. Happy Shopping! [IMG]

how fast do zoo's typically grow? I haven't had mine long enough to really notice any growth. I would love to have them all over my substrate.
