Alright y'all I'm looking to set up a 16gal nano. I support local buisness so ima buy a coralife 16 off Kevin down at paradise and honestly its a better deal than I've found online, plus he helped me out a lot when I was starting my 75gal (which unfortunately in my sons mom and my split it ended up crashing) so I'm wanting to do a biocube for now to cure the itch in other words untill I find a place I wanna buy then ima upgrade to a 250-300 and use the biocube for more less a frag tank, goby tank. Basically ive been looking into the filtration because I wanna do a small reugium in the back using some, chato and live rock does anyone have a coralife set up with refugium I can,get ideal on? The sell a media basket kit that you can introduce a certain amount of media in but I was wanting to try to turn the whole center chamber into a refugium, and skimmer slot. Advice on this please. My 75 did great until it crashed just wanting to do as much prep and research on these nanos as possible

No experience on biocubes, hopefully someone here will have some insight.

I was steered away from the skimmer told as long as I keep up with water changes the fish load in,this tank wouldnt be detrimental for the need of a skimmer and the looks of the coralife I can set up a refugium relatively simple just gotta figure out where I want to put the light on. the back is clear, but the light would be less of a eye sore if I could mount it from the lid somehow

If the bioload is low you can for sure get by without a skimmer. A refugium definitely helps some with nutrient transport.

Yea I dont plan on putting many fish in it, more of a coral tank, but I know with corals you stop have some waste produced. Ima get a couple juvenile clowns and a young rose tip to start out with. After my copopods start flourishing I may throw a young mediteranian gobys in. Not 100 percent decided on,that yet but my fiance loves that fish By the time they grow I should be ready to set up my 250-300 gallon at the new house.

I would wait till you get the big tank for that one. Never seen one survive for long in anything smaller than a 75 gallon that was mature with lots of pods. They are an absolutely stunning fish.

I had one in my 75 along with several others that did well Till me and my sons mom split up and it ended up crashing. I wasn't sure on if they would be good in a biocube or not but I assumed as long as every thing was established well they would thrive. I shall wait and probably just make this a juvenile clown and reef tank

I love the mandarin gobys, probably one of my most favorite saltwater fish besides the kole eyed tang they just have a great personality and are always roaming

The only fish that I miss from my freshwater tank are my freshwater puffers awesome personalities I had them to where they would swim up in my hand and eat out of it, and my freshwater ropefish. He would do the same I had 2 that would periodically ball up like snakes when I assumed they mating. Those 2 fish are the only reasons I'd start another freshwater tank
