I have two Aqua-Logic chillers for sale with summer coming someone on here may be interested.  The 1st one is a 1/4 horse I believe for $110.00.  The other is a 1/2 horse for $150.00.
They both need to be recharged.  That is why they are so cheap.  That is the only thing I now that is wrong with them.

  2. Great deals, not exactly for the nanos that I run know

What type of refrigerant do they use? is it the same as what is in a car's ac system?

I think they use 134-a, but need to go out to my garage in the back and look to be sure.  If I remember right youcan get it at local auto parts houses.

Ok, I need to make an correction.  The chillers are Aqua-Logic Delta Stars are 1/3 horsepower and an 1/2 horsepower.  I said earlier I believe that one was a 1/4 horsepower.  Both do in fact use R134-a refrigerant.

Why do they need charging?  Much like an air conditioner or refrigerator these things do not consume freon.  So unless it was purposely or accidently emptied of freon, they are leaking.  I was just curious if they need a minor leak fixed as well as recharged.  EIther way its still a KILLER deal and if I had more than about 55 gallons of water total volume I'd jump right on one.  Even if leaking it's nothing a little solder and a few minutes couldn't fix.

They may not need charging at all.  I do know that in the summer time they ran all of the time to keep my water cool, but I also had/have approx 230 gallons of water in my hot garage during the summer.
I have not used them in at least one year also.
That does not include the 200 gallon (at the time) in the house, and all of the metal halide lights going over everything.  They did keep my water cool, but not were I wanted it to be at 78 degrees.
Since Thomas set up my air conditioner/chiller I do not need these, as it keeps up fine.  We are going to work on it some more and install a swimming pool chiller/heater coil to make it even more effiecent.
I now have approx 600-700 gallons of water to keep cool, and it is way beyond these little chillers.
