Where to start hmmmmm my grandma bought this tank, stand, sump combo from north side aquatics probly 6 years ago maybe longer well needless to say I acquired the tank a few years ago, and plugged the holes to make it a freshwater tank. after having that set up I slowly ventured to brackish tanks and acquired green spotted puffers. which is a great fish to have they have awesome personalities and will eat bloodworms from your fingers. But anyways I got tired of just having 4 fish in a 75gal tank so December of last year I tore it down and started staging for a saltwater (feeling confident from keeping the gsp for so long) boy did I get my hand full quick haha, after I tore it down started re plumbing everything I had previously pulled, and capped off. After a couple broken bulkheads I got it plumbed and started getting the rest of the supplies. By the time I got the sump it was the 1st so it was time to get the water and rocks and sand. I looked into real fine Caribbean sand but decided not to because I couldn't find it local. I got the live rock from the fish tank and got water in it a few days later and here we are down the road. fullshot [IMG] frogspawn [IMG] green star polyps [IMG] bta, and clowns, and the chromis had to get in there [IMG] zoas [IMG] another gsp [IMG] frag encrusting [IMG] the business end [IMG]

I can't answer that. I have never bought pods in my life. They are on the rock and on the macro algae

I'm looking into getting a mandrin pair one day just trying to get a jump start on the colony before I throw two in. I don't buy them often but I feel when I can't see any they are gone

A 75g is probably too small for a pair of Mandarins unless the Mandarins are eating pellets or frozen mysis. ORA Mandarins are trained to do that but most others aren't.

Could I train it to with a baster or something? I see it picking at shrimp floating around during feeding time everynow and then. I've seen people with pairs in biocubes but I wouldn't go that small with it I also don't know how they ended up

Looks like an ordinary bristle worm to me. Good part of the clean up crew. Their numbers will be determined by available food and predators (some wrasses and butterflies especially like them).

Bristle worms are not a problem no matter the size. The ones your thinking of are probably eucinid (Bobbit) worms, they are predatory and not safe at any size. They can kill fish and literally bite them in two.....hence the nick name Bobbit worm. Bristle worms mouth parts are only adapted to eating decaying or very small stuff. Just don't touch them, it's like touching a nettle plant. Itches and stings for a while.

Your probly right when I first found it I did alot of research on them and just kept reading and closing they didn't seem to be harmful but like you said them "bobbit" worms get huge kinda creepy looking. And any worse than insulation? I almost tried touching it yesterday then I remembered on one of yalls post y'alls hand was covered in white bristles

Can you pull the bristles out with tape like you would insulation or are the bristles more barbed like on the ends

It's like fiberglass. Just wash your hands carefully, a few times and you should be good to go.

Lol how'd your hand end up reacting to it? I've messed with that rock wool insulation alot and seen it really do a number on people before
