View attachment 11389 First picture December 2013. I started with 3 yellowtail damsels, yellow tang, a pink long tentacle anemone, yellow polyps, zoantins, blue mushroom and 3 snails. 55 gal tank with 100 gallon filter that hangs on the back, (no sump) t5 lighting. Wish me luck!

Nice tank! Going to follow this build.

Also, are you interested in frogspawn? I've got a piece that has 3 heads, with 3 more forming. I'd trade it out for a couple of those plugs you make! I'm not sure if you've kept it before, but it's not that difficult to care for.

Looks good Lynda. Keep updating as the club helps you fill it up!

    Hiya,

Linda, Ive got a HOB filter too. How do you deal with the micro bubbles? I'm also running one rated for 100 gallons.

Kim - I didn't even know micro bubbles was a problem until I attended last months meeting so I'm not dealing with them, I just let them happen. My HOB filter is also rated for 100 gal although my tank is just 55. I keep my water level high so that keeps the air bubbles to a minimum and I use pillow stuffing in the filter cases instead of the store bought filter. (I read that on one of the R2R forums and tried it - works great). My water is not as clear as Corey's or David's so this is something I will have to work on. I am ordering a RODI this weekend from Bulk Reef SUpply. Are you guys still trying to get a big bulk order ready?

Alan, (fattytwobyfour) yes I'd like to try some frogspawn and would be happy to make some plugs for you. Did you like plugs that are round with stem, round without stem, square with stem, square without stem or everyone's favorite the "radiation" symbol plug with stem or without stem?

The round with a stem is good. You don't have to make many for this trade. I'll try to post a photo tonight or tomorrow of the frogspawn. It's a nice big piece, and I think you will like it.

Here's a photo from January of it. It's 3 heads (with two more forming) of the coral on the bottom.

Which HOB filter do you have Lynda? You may be able to adjust the flow. That coupled with keeping the water level near the output should cut down on bubbles a lot.

I use Aquaclear HOB filters on my QT's and if I get behind on my top off it will not only start producing bubbles but get noisey as well.

Alan it's beautiful. put my name on it!
David my filter is an Emperor 400 with 2 biowheels. I'll have to look and see if there is a way to turn it down. I don't notice the noise but I do have a mild-mod hearing impairment.
My husband has supersonic hearing and he has never complained about the noise so it must not be too noisy.

I am working on a refugium this weekend. I need to try to build up my pod population to feed my mandarin goby. (I purchased pods for him tonight and they
cost $20. that's a little steep. I'm going to try to post a pic of him but I never could get a good pic of him since he hides a lot.

    Hiya,

Thanks Linda...I've also just realized if I keep my water level high that the bubbles are a lot less. Mine is adjustable so I may play with my flow too.

Beautiful fish! I really wanted a mandarin but with all my wrasse it will be impossible to keep enough pods to keep one fed. Maybe on my second tank!

David does your wife know about your "second" tank?

Well technically it would be a 5 tank (after two QT's and my 4 gallon pico). :). And the answer is not yet though I did hint at it the other day.

    Hiya,

What type of angel is that in your tank? Is it bothering any of your corals?
