May's meeting is a road trip. Corals for Charity is the event that some of us are attending. It will be held a the Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Jenks Oklahoma. It is a Frag Swap. The name Frag Swap is probably not what you are thinking. "Frag Swap" is the saltwater industry name for a trade show. Think of it as a swap meet where there are a bunch of people selling saltwater products. Most of the vendors are selling corals but there will also be some vendors selling dry goods. I don't know if there will be a fish guy this year or not. Last year there was a guy selling some fish dirt cheap. I am posting this so early because the Holiday Inn Express that is hosting the event has discounted rooms for $89 if you book before May 5th. After that they go back up to $119 per night. There is no door charge (although a donation will be appreciated) and there will be raffle tickets available for purchase. There are some sweet prizes including a set of T5s with Reefbrites. That is next level type stuff for your SPS game. There will be some awesome vendors including FragHouse Corals, Worlds Under Water, Zoanthids dot com, Cherry Corals, Fritz, etc... My understanding is all vendors are required to donate something for the raffle. The door donations and raffle ticket sales proceeds go to fighting childhood cancer.

Jennifer and I went last year and loved it. When we were done there we went to the Oklahoma Aquarium which is a few blocks away. That was pretty cool too. We are definitely going again this year. I highly recommend you attend. I know there was some talk about who was going and when were they leaving. Jen and I are leaving on Friday night and returning on Saturday. I suggest we carpool. I already have my house/tank/dog sitter arranged and I will be bringing a cooler for frags.

Thanks for posting. I'll see if we will be able to go. I assume it's family friendly? We have a 3 year old that would be coming too.

It's open to the public. It is no different than going to a store. Except all the stores are in the same room.

I think you will enjoy it. I need to change the picture up top. It opens at 11 not 10.

So will we be having any sort of formal get together while there or will everyone just be on their own?

It might be fun to meet up and chat or show off corals or whatever.. or meet up Friday night or something.. just thoughts.

@franklypre , how was RAP? Did you and Brandon kill it? What did you guys buy? What is new for Fraghouse?

  13. I'm not going to be able to make it this time, maybe next year. You guys be safe driving!

It was a really impressive show, sold lots of coral! I bought one zoa for my wife, rainbow incinerator I believe. Brandon picked up a few montis that will literally blow most folks away, grafted starburst with green and yellow polyped cap of some sort...it was HOT. If you're a stickhead you'll find the pieces most of us only see on the internet as well as frags to fit your budget, the $10 section even had some fire in it. If there is anything particular y'all are looking for I'd strongly suggest letting him know ahead of time because the LE goes quick!

I have a regular Sunbust Monti Cap. It is a pretty cool piece. I couldn't imagine a grafted one.

I bet this one goes for well over a hundred bucks when it gets released, I'd never seen one like it

Hey, I won't be able to make it after all, so would anyone be willing to pick me up a cool zoa frag? Nothing too outrageous but I like bright colors. Maybe something with blue in it.

Let me know if anyone is interested in doing this for me. Thanks!

We are going for sure now. The holiday inn in Jenks was booked but there is another one 3 miles down the road we are going to stay at. So i figured that will work fine.
