Thanks to Greg Eller for having me over and selling me (and giving a few) several frags today. Had a great visit and got to see a preview of the new Director controller for my Vega lights. A few pics taken about 10 minutes after being introduced in to the tank. I also got 3 new zoa frags, 3 heads of a hammer and a green Ric as well. Pics of them later as they are all kind of mad right now (they didn't appreciate the bath they got).
These pics are of the green acro we got at Reef Splash. Sadly the red acro frag I got looked good for a couple of days and then bleached out and died overnight. First pic...almost all of the small branches at 90 degrees are new Second pic....that cluster of polyps and the two bumps at the left are new. Third pic......still a little pale on the tips of two branches but regaining color, growing side branches and keeping polyps extended almost all the time.
Got this Friday at one of our LFS after a person who will remain unnamed nabbed an even prettier and much larger multicolored acro. Are the mouths in the lower left and upper right parts of the coral normal structures or hitch hikers incorporated in to the colony?
I know nothing about these corals, so I can't answer anything. But I just wanted to say that they look nice to me!
Lol, you got it. That is the most purple acro I have ever seen. And yes they are barnacles, a lot of your corals that come in straight from the ocean have a few on them. Many of my Acro's have them, nothing to worry about. Watch closely and you'll see what looks like eye lashes popping out then back in catching particles I'm the water. But they don't hurt anything. You should have bought it man. It's only money! LOL. It's not having the polyp extension I'd like to see at this point. I may cut my lights down a bit more for a few days.
