Sarcophyton?

I have a coral that looks like a toadstool leather mushroom but has no stalk and the polyps are very short. The capitulum is directly attached to its host rock. I got it as a frag at the 2005 Splash event at H2Ocean. It's only about 3" in diameter but the edges are deeply folded which indicates that it's fairly mature.

Has anyone seen one like this before?

    (Sorry I don't have a decent camera.)

  2. Sounds like Sarcophyton elegans. They usually come in khaki or yellow, though I did see a lime green one. Their shape brings to mind a generic tostada shape. http://www.meerwasser-lexikon.de/de/83/1598/Sarcophyton/elegans.htm I think the one Norman fragged ... those apart so well from S. tenuispiculatum.

Yep, looks very similar. Mine is not yellow, more khaki colored. Almost all are sold as Fiji Yellow Leathers. I guess it's not nearly as mature as the pics I found with Google. Thanks.

Jaysuncle When you get ready to put it together let me know and I'll come help. I'll need at least a weeks notice tho. This time of the year is busy for me.
