SPS grow out

Yesterday I cut a piece of Scripps Acro and suspended it on fishing line. Now we watch.

Be interesting to see the morphology it grows in to. I know they do this with mariculture....how do they attach the new colonies to the reef when they're ready?

 

They use 2 part epoxy puddy to attach it to the live rock.

How is it doing?

 

We are at our first month.

 

There is a noticeable color change but very little growth.

 

It's about to take off! Big cluster of radial corralites in the right side of that top picture!

 

You weren't joking about taking off Doc. Here we are 4 weeks later.

That is cool to see that guy take off. How awesome would it be to see that little sliver turn in to a 10-12 inch colony! This is what really gets me enthused about the hobby.
