The only supplement that I use is Korallen-zucht Amino Acid LPS from BRS. I love it.

Subscribed. I haven't dosed anything other than alkalinity, calcium and magnesium so far. Interested to see what others experiences are. Some people think all the supplements are a gimick and other swear by them. I know Randy Farley Holmes doses iron.

    Nice thread

  4. I have tried all sorts of supplements, the last being AcroPower. I think I got better PE on a couple acros and maybe some deeper blues and purples. The next thing I will try is sending off water sample to Triton Labs. It seems far better to know exactly what to correct, if anything, than blindly add something. Dosing amino acids seems to be popular and I simply have not read enough about coral to know if this is snake water.

BTW, of the multiple products, AcroPower is the only one that I think worked in my tank. I remember being very excited when Fuel came out and tried several bottles over months and the only results I got was algae and cyano!

I don't see the "immediate" results with the amino acids but I did get a tear on top of one of my Plate corals and it was healed up completely in 3 days. Maybe the amino's had something to do with it, maybe not. With that said, my other plate did not heal and hasn't opened up in 4 weeks. It's still alive though.

  6. Not to beat a dead horse here, but I personally would not recommend supplements. I am sure they work in some instances depending on which product is chosen but overall not worth the price. I think most experiences are simply a placebo effect, mine included. The real key for SPS is stability. Thats it! Make sure alk doesn't fluctuate and keep your ca+ in range. As far as softies, well, they need even less attention.

That being said, I'm one of those people that get excited every time something new comes out and end up trying lots of products. To each his own….

I bought it to try it and it was going to put me over the amount so I could get free shipping. In this instance, the juice was worth the squeeze. I wouldn't place an order just for supplements though.
