Ok, all of you craftmasters. I have recently purchased this auto top off system from aquahub.com for my biocube 29 gallon: <IMG style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick="self.parent.InsertSymbol(' and I need a little help with the configuration. I have a reservoir that is sitting in the cabinet underneath the aquarium, and a Maxi Jet 1200 for pumpage. To bring the water from the maxijet and up the back of the tank and into the back chamber, I'm using black aquarium tubing with an inside diameter of 1/2" and an outside diameter of 5/8", probably similar to what is shown (except black). Basically, I'm going to have a hose running up the back of the tank. When it reaches the top, the hose is naturally pointing upward. I need some sort of attachment that will allow the water to flow down into the tank, and also to hold onto the top edge of the tank to keep it in place. I was thinking of attaching a 90 elbow that the hose would fit around (so it would be watertight), something like this, but plastic: <IMG style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick="self.parent.InsertSymbol(' attached to a straight piece of tubing, then another 90 elbow, so that the hose could hang by this second elbow, and the water would be flowing downward, not all over the place. Unfortunately, a trip to Home Depot showed that they don't make this piece in Pex. Maybe a stupid question, but can I use 3/4" PVC that the hose would fit inside, and just silicone it very carefully? I'm not a big DIY person by nature, so I'm not very creative. Does anyone have any other ideas/advice? Thanks.
i have one of these bad boys http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~ ... IFTRP.html its 1/2 od so it will work just right for you. its yours if you want it. i just got it in a order of locline i got off rc. let me know
Yeah buddy. That's exactly what I need. Are you going to be in LR at all the next couple of days? Thanks.
Actually, you have a great idea for that 90 degree elbow. Your plan is good but you need to be careful for the height of the pipes. I believe the pressure could be change with some modification. plumbing
watch for siphoning back into your reservor. will cause a flood if the hose is below the water line. it seems like a lot of pump for a top off. may cause splashing if the hose is above the water line. just something to watch for. Good luck Â
Been running this guy for almost a year and a half. Ended up using a U-shaped plastic tube from a MAG HOT filter from Jason. The output is above the water to avoid siphoning. The pump is probably overkill, but it's what I had around, and so far it's not a problem.
