Lost just about everything when we lost power for 4 days over Christmas. I am donating the few living items to a friend, but what do I do with what's left? What is the best thing to do with the rock? Scrub off any algae, then what? Is there a good way to remove the sand? I ran the pumps though a warm water and vinegar bath to clean them up.

To answer your question what was do a big water change on my tank. I do have a slight elevation of nitrate now that I didnt have before. I have heard that it will go through the cycling process again but I guess its different with every tank.
