Lost just about everything when we lost power for 4 days over Christmas. I am donating the few living items to a friend, but what do I do with what's left? What is the best thing to do with the rock? Scrub off any algae, then what? Is there a good way to remove the sand?
I ran the pumps though a warm water and vinegar bath to clean them up.

Are you going to be free on the 19th? If so we will be talking about how to recover and prepare for a situation like the one most of us experienced over the Christmas holiday. To answer your question what was do a big water change on my tank. I do have a slight elevation of nitrate now that I didnt have before. I have heard that it will go through the cycling process again but I guess its different with every tank.

I was actually breaking it down. May start over or get a larger tank. Just curious what to do with the stuff currently in the tank.
