I felt a little embarrased when Fishermann came by a week ago at how my skimmer was so dirty. I had plans to do it just never made time for it. I already had the vinegar, just needed to make the time. So I did. Thanks John for the nudge!! Before shots: After soaking in vinegar about four hours: and the finished product, and water flowing through it: Back in action after 24 hours:
I think I am going to give it a Darth Vader wrap in a dark Hefty garbage back to keep coraline algae from growing inside it!!
I'd like to see more pictures of your set-up. I see the two big tubs and all the plumbing going on in the background. How big is your tank?
Main tank is an Oceanic 215 "Brick Style", sump to the left of the skimmer is 100 gallons, sump to the right of the skimmer is 75 gallons, my frag tank is approx 30 gallons. Skimmer holds approx 7-8 gallons, and media reactor about 1 1/2 gallons. There are a few other pics under our "Arkansas Marine Aquarists of the year" thread here: www.razorbackreef.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1930 Let me know if you have any more questions or would like to see different pics of the set up.
ABOUT TIME lol! Looks clean, your tank well love you, hope it helps to clear the hair algae issue for you Ralph. The frags are still doing fine and have new growth showing.
Fishermann all I have to say is "That's my babies!!" I hardly recognized the skimmer once clean. I still stare at the pictures of it clean in awe of it.
