DIY Skimmer

I just wanted to share this with the people here that are into DIY projects. This is a Skimmer I built a while ago out of a round up spray rig.

It works.

 

I thought I could find interesting things to use to DIY my stuff, but that is a pretty slick idea.

 

Pretty cool. Try to find a recirculating pump to eliminate the air stones. Or is it using an air pump? What is the hose coming off of the very top (neck) area?

 

It is a recirculated skimmer. The pump used to reciculate is a quite one 4400 or something like that (sorry its been a while) that has a home made venturie type suction to inject the bubbles. The hose coming off the top that routes down into the water is connected to a maxijet that pumps the water from the sump into it.... Then of course it then overflows out of the bottom and up the stand pipe until it flows out the side there.

When this thing was running.... man.. this thing would get it... I would put it up against any of those Bubble Kings or what not.. LOL

I havent done anything like this in a while but it was a fun build.

Think all in all it was like $100 all together
