I WILL BE PURCHASING THE MP40W WAVEMAKER FOR MY 110 GAL DEEP, NEXT WEEK. DO ANYONE HAVE OR KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT? I NEED TO KNOW THE PROS AND CONS. I WANTED THE TUNZE BUT IT TAKES UP TO MUCH ROOM.

    MP20 in a 28G

Does anyone have an opinion on the Vortech MP20 in a 28G tank? The JBJ 28G has a wavemaker included on the return, but now my GPH goes way down. I am a little worried that this very expensive powerhead will create a windtunnel.

On the plus side, I could sell it off in a jiffy!

Although I believe the Vortech's speed is fully adjustable, it seems like expensive overkill for such a small tank. A couple of Maxijets would be just fine.

i would tend to agree on this. thats alot of flow for a little tank.

    Calfo reading again

You can probably tell I've been reading the Calfo book again. He is recommending 50-60x tank volume flow for the tougher SPS. He's pretty big on flow and down on the high-powered lights. On paper the Vortech got me there, and it has a built-in wavemaker function, but probably not too good from one source.

I love my Vortechs. I have my MP40w on the 75g display on Reefcrest mode, with night mode setup. I like the fact that it does not transfer heat into the tank because the motor is out side the tank. My MP20 is on my clam tank. Not sure on how many gallons it is (Chris?). It is set on Lagoon Mode, at about 75% output. Not sure on how much water flow that is in either tank, but They are doing well with it. The 75g display is mainly SPS.
