I would love to have one of those tanks. So cool.

  3. Thanks !

After a lot of thinking about it and being inspired by other RSM club 250 owners (plus the fact that I have had great success with my wonderful 130D and having decided my room just would not fit a RSM 500) I decided to purchased the Rea Sea Max 250 [IMG]
Very excited ... as this upgrade will allow my currently very crowded corals more space, the option to add more and possibly (bigger fish), the fun of starting up a new tank (with a better knowledge base than my first tank) and getting to add more corals under the 250s T5 lights.

I bought it from the same place that I bought mt 1st RSM 130D, thatpetplace (serving pet owners and hobbyists since 1973) just put the RSM 250 on sale 10% off with coupon code "saveten", been waiting for this... I like good deals.

Better have some deep pockets if you're going to stock it with those corals !!! Great looking tank and I'm sure you can do as well

    1+

    Thanks for sharing !!

  5. Thanks Norman - I am going to go slow & enjoy the journey. Thinking I will start with like 80% dry rock from Marcos, am going to take my time & plan it out before setting up the tank, decide that livestock I want to have, like maybe a jawfish & try to plan out the tank accordingly - always fun to start up a new tank [IMG]

Congrats Glenn! I know that we have all enjoyed watching your smaller tank grow. Can't wait to see this one... Are you keeping your other tank?

  7. JT - Thanks very much for the nice compliment !

Two years ago, I had a friend get a small BC tank & it got me interested. Years ago I had two fresh water tanks, but took them down after a couple of year & always was fighting algae.

Our family vacations in south Florida most years & I love to dive the coral reefs there, when my friend showed me his little bio-cube & told me that it is now possible for a novice like me to have a successful reef tank, I was intrigued, so I started doing some research & ending up buying my 1st reef tank (my 34 gallon Red Sea Max). I then join RRMAS and several members shared with me the basics, like how to properly cycle a tank, since then I became addicted & just love my sw tank & reading & learning all I can about the hobby.

This will be my second reef tank & I am so excited now that I know with good husbandry I can successfully have a beautiful little reef in my home to enjoy.

It will take me a few months, but my current plan is to sell (at a good price) my current Red Sea Max 130D once my new RSM 250 cycles & I move over my coral & fish.

    Glenn -
I'm assuming since you purchased another RSM that you're happy with the RSM 130? I was looking into the Nano 28 w/ LED's but reading your posts about the RSM made me start looking into them. Could you elaborate a little as to why you would choose a RSM over a Nano? Just looking for some feedback before I purchase one or the other. =)

  12. I am a big fan RSM tanks [IMG]

My best advise is come visit the Red Sea Max Club on Reef Sanctuary

    http://www.reefsanctuary.com/forums/red ... ners-club/

Thousand of Red Sea Max owners & a great bunch that all try to help everyone have success with thier RSM tanks.

I think BioCubes are very good tanks... I just think Red Sea Max tank are drop dead gorgeous and the best AIO (all-in-one) tank made, I have over 11,000 post on Reef Sanctuary & have read every post written in the Red Sea Max Club & can tell you they are great tanks.

Everyone in the RSM Club is very nice (you will never see any flames, never) everyone just tries to help all the RSM owners have success. Feel free to come visit & ask as many questions about RSM tanks as you have, lots & lots of owners will give you quality feedback.

and you can look at all the pics of 1000's of beautiful RSM tanks.

Check out this link too & compare specs... http://www.redseafish.com/redseamax/250 ... index.html

You can read what all the lights will support here... http://www.redseafish.com/redseamax/250 ... D.html#_10

I would like to have a RSM. That is what I wanted but the BIO-Cube was a lot cheaper. I do like the BC but I do think if I had the extra money I wouls still get a RSM.

They are pretty pricey. The 28g Nano /w LED's runs about $650.00 if purchased online. The RSM 130 is a little more than that but not terribly so. However... I have no self control and if I'm going to go the RSM route I'd really really really want to go the with the 250. If the world was a perfect place, I'd find a place that would let me finance one. lol It gives me more of the size I really want with the ease of being an AIO. I guess if I wasn't such a chicken I would build my own system but that thought freaks me out quite a bit. lol
