Screws, that thing is a BEAST! Really beautiful. Congratulations, and feel free to keep updating us...

  4. That is one massive tank - I can't say that I have seen a tank that tall before. What are your plans for it.

Would make a great large angel and batfish tank. (not pinnatus bat) I understand the plans are for a reef. That leaves the options open for some pretty impressive landscaping. I don't think the "dump truck" method will work in this case. Can't wait to see the finished project.

all help and advise will be granted lol. i plan on making her a reef tank but its gonna take a while to get it there. as far as aquascaping i plan on a simple set up with about 300 lbs of rock that i currently have. maybe alittle more.

here the basic idea i have
    [IMG]

i plan on having the leathers on the overflow wall and the zoos and star pollops on the lower part of the arch and the sps and lps on the top closer to the light when i get them.

this tank only has three cut outs in teh tiop for lights so i guess im going to go with 3 400w mhs. i currently have 2 250 w's that i may use on the edges until i get the bigger ones but time will tell. i still have to build a stand and work out the overall heigth issues. with a tank this size i cannot use the 125 gl sump under it with a 8' ceiling so i have to get creative on the design or have a remote sump somewhere else. aww the fun of fish keeping.

You are going to need a lot more hiding places for the fish. I would also worry about this falling. How are you going to keep it from topling over? That is pretty high considering the size of the tank. Just courious....

i am going to drill the live rock and use a pvc frame to support the weight. maybe also some fiberglass rods if needed. i figure the rubble pile on the overflow will have plenty of spaces for the littler fish to hide. i will also construct some smaller caves around the base of the arch column

If you are really feeling ambitious, check these threads out: Kannin and Tiggsy's rock wall projects - That ought to keep you busy for a while...
