I finally got my MRC skimmer unfortunately I waited too long and my tank crashed. Everything was healthy last weekand bam down hill from there. Lost everything but 3 fish. I was able to save most of my corals but i am out atleast $500 in livestock [IMG]

well back to the subject at hand that mrc skimmer is a monster. That thing is heavvvvvvy and i have never seen anything more quality built. They dont use flimsey material. Everything on this is thick and secure. I went with a Mag 5 pump and a GEN-X PCX55 pump. Tim was great to work with.

I cant wait to see this thing in action but gotta figure out how to hook it up first [IMG] From the size of it I will most likely need to install out of the sump atthe end of my tank. Does anyone else have one and if so how do you have yours installed, internal or external. I need the plumbing a skimmer for dummies version. I know there are some of you that have one, appreciate your input on specs and items i will need to hook this bad boy up. Pics hooked up would be great! Thanks in advance for your help.

Mine is installed outside of the sump. I use a mag 12 for the feed pump, it suplies sump water to the skimmer box. I use a blueline pressure pump for the recirculation. The blue line suction line will come from the skimmer box, the discharge line from the recic pump will feed the two foam nozzels. Be sure to plumb up the pumps with union fittings and ball valves for easy pump maintance. The skimmer does a great job , just be sure to clean it at least once a week, and when ever the skimmer is running real quite then its time to clean the foam nozzels and needle valves, the needle valves have a tendancy to salt up....you will also need to invest in a colection canaster. Can't post any pics for a whyle super busy at work.....but you can call or email andy(the owner) at myreefcreations.com and he will help you anyway possible.

I got everything hooked up this weekend, i ran in behind the tank into my laundry room not too big of a hole [IMG]. We ran some clean water through it for a couple hours before we feed it from the sump like it said on the site. How long did it take before you actually got skimmate out of it. Nothing so far and i think everything is adjusted right.

It took a day or so I guess, but thats been almost a year ago. It will do a fine job, I have to break mine down twice a week to clean the thick residue with a water hose. One thing to remember is that finger or skinn oil from touching the inner mechinisms can slow down peformance a day or two though.....thats why I use a water hose and plenty of paper towels.
