Does anyone have an extra 48" Canopy that they are not using? I can't afford a lot, but I had a mishap (log story - Marti knows) and the front of my canopy broke. My husband has been planning on making me one but he works for AT&T and they have kept him working overtime A LOT! This canopy came with the set up that I purchased second hand and the guy didn't even seal the insided so the wood is rotting and moldy. Please help if you can. I have a new lighting system to replace the inadequate one that he (the guy that sold it to me) had in there. Thanks in advance if any one can help.

what size tank is it for and how soon do you need it? i have a 4 foot canopy that is 2 foot deep for a 150gl tank that i will be finished with in a month or so. it is not sealed but it was built about 4 months ago so its in good shape.

I have a home-made 48" canopy that will fit a 55 gallon tank. Nice jointed and glued, oak! 25$

Well, Cameron... Mine is a 75g. I got the top home and it's about 6-8" too short front to back... So I guess we'll put it back up for sale @ $25 and it is REAL nice. With Blk Frame of Tank: 48.5" x 19.5" (so 48x19x21 is my tank size). Maybe I will have to just wait until my hubby can get around to building it... but I really, really need to get the new lights up. I'm running on T12 VHO's right now (which I knew nothing about when I got the tank - they came with the set-up). Screwloose - let me know if you have anything that would work for mine. I hate to have the nice lumber hubby bought go for naught, but he's working for the new division of AT&T and puts in A LOT of over time.
    Thanks guys,
    Pam

mine will def. work for yours. infact it will be alittle too big but i can cut it down for you if you want it to fit your tank. my new tank should be here in 2 weeks or so they say. if you want it then you can get it after that. if thats too far away i may have enough scrap wood int eh garage i can throw one toegtehr for you real quick. a 75 gl is 18w correct? ill check my wood stash tonight and see what i have. i need to clean some of it up anyway

I really need it sooner but could probably wait. Poor hubby bought really nice birch to make it pretty, but I think he can take it all back. I actually think he would prefer me get somewhere else as long as it's not hundreds of dollars. Can you send me a pic and let me know how much you want? Mine right now just has one long door in front. The main problem with it (other than I crack it real bad when I fell through a bucket... short story in person... long one here) the guy I bought this set up from didn't take care of his stuff and didn't even bother to seal the wood and it is rotting and moldy and such. Plus I have a new lighting system to go in - Hagen T5 VHO 3 types of lights, 3 balasts. One thing I don't have yet is reflectors. Can you make those yourself? I've even heard of people using duct work metal tape. What do you suggest? These are mini-bulbs (not as big around as my T12). And do you need seperate reflector for each type light?

I have measurements in this same thread - earlier post today.

    Thanks,
    Pam

It's actually With Blk Frame of Tank: 48 3/8" x 19 3/8". You might want to check standard measurements but I believe that's correct.

i looked but i dont have enough to build another one to fit your tank. the one i built is out of birch as well but it hasnt been sealed yet. i threw it together a s a make shift lid when my other tank sprang a leak but its built good. you can have it for 40.00 if you want to wait for it. i will trim it out the rest of the way as well. i'll get some pics up for you.

or if you want to get your piece of wood to me i will build you one out of the wood you have. we can do it in a couple hours tops.

Or electricity, pumps, plumbing, lights, equipment, rock, sand, not to mention livestock. Large tanks, especially reef tanks, are a major project and expense. I wish you well with this project and will help in any way I can. This should be the a showpiece for our hobby and a sourse of great enjoyment for you and your family. I wish you all the best
