    Hiya,

Welcome! Waiting on John Caroll to determine if he's going to let us hold the April meeting at his house or if we'll need another location.

Awesome good to know and thanks for the welcomes I have a young son so I may not be able to make some of them but I'm definitely going to try it's alot easier talking to people about issues than over the phone or keyboard. I'm dealing with slight hair algae problems at the moment and added some more snails today and looking around watching them I found out I have a small bristle worm thats been undetected so far kinda a interesting critter tho

    Hiya,

Hair algea can be an issue with a new tank set up. a good CUC should take care of that...plus using good water too. Bristle worms aren't all that bad. I have them in my tank. They can be considered part of the CUC. Some folks just don't like them.

I think bristle worms are not liked because of their appearance. Valuable part of the CUC that self regulates depending on how much detritus is available.

I haven't found anything that eats hair algae. Agree it (and diatoms) is just a part of a new tank. It will go away, just practice good husbandry and keep NO3 and PO4 under control.

I always check them nitrates usually twice a week and phosphates every week my nitrates are usually either so low my test kit doesn't read it or the hair algae just eats it all and I can't detect it either way the cuc is starting to make a dent thinking about what others I want to add. Any recommendations? I have blue leg crabs so can't get red legs

Welcome to Razorback Reef! Sounds like a refugium might help. Growing macro algaes can help control hair algae. There are too many benefits. I think all tanks do better with one.

You might be overfeeding a little. Cutting the input cuts the output.

I would cut back to every other week. These corals and the nems get their energy from photosynthesis. So some people don't feed them at all.
