I am almost done with Roy's massive sump. It is all glued up and I finished routing it today. Now I just have to glaze all of the exposed edges and it is good to go.
That is one awesome sump. So what are the chambers looking from left to right? Or I guess what goes where?
Hey, I forgot to ask while I was at the meeting... How do you cut the teeth for the baffle? Do you use a jig/template of some sort?
i would imagine you could just mark it and use a router with a quarter inch bit or something like that.
I use a box joint jig that I made about a month ago. This is the first chance that I had to use it and it works great. The link for it is below: http://www.woodsmithstore.com/boxjoint.html
The sump is coming along great. You do good work Chris, tho, a little messy. My first thought when I saw this pic of you was wondering if Roxanne took the water hose to you before letting you back in the house. LOL
Roy's sump made the trip back to El Dorado yesterday. I didn't get a chance to do the glazing but it turned out really well just a little less asthetically pleasing. But then again how pretty does a sump need to be. We had to take the grates off of a window and get it out of the shop that way. I measured for it to go through the door but didn't account for the fact that we would have to angle it to get past several pillars. Live and learn. Thanks Roy for the oppertunity to build a sump of that size. I was really able to refine my acrylic skills and hope that you feel like you got the benefit. If anyone decides to build a sump just let me know - I would be happy to help you do it.
I would be interested in seeing your skills put to building a large aquarium stand !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL ps. I've got another project when you get some time.
A big congrads to Chris for building the sump for me. I have been quite busy the last couple of days working on the tank. Well I have the sump drilled on the side for two return pumps and the chiller return pump. jamesamantha the flow pattern goes from right to left in the pic. Six drain lines will flow into the first chamber on the left. then progress through a bubble trap then the Fuge/grag tank, then onto the return chamger that the return pumps and chiller pump feed out of.
