Has anyone had the misfortune of losing livestock during this power outage? I'd be happy to help if I can.

When I first moved to Fort Smith, I was without power 4 days in the ice storm of Jan 2000. I would take a pot of water from the sump and heat it on my gas fireplace and then dump it in the tank. Did this repeatedly for 4 days .
You might want to reset your tank heaters, if you have some, so the temperature goes up slower. less shock to the system

Hey we just got power back, this is a little late but if you need a cheap way to keep everything alive. I went to a truck stop and bought a 750w power converter for $50. It should be enough to run your heater and a few power heads if nothing else. I hooked it up to my truck and just made sure I let the truck run every once in a while so I didn't drain the battery. Worked for two days.

    Hiya,

Unfortunately, I lost my niger, my coral beauty and a wrasse, 3/4 the fish in my tank. The only one to make it was my pink spotted goby. I haven't seen his partner shrimp yet, but I'm hoping he survived. I didn't get my internet back until late today. The only thing I could think to do was to drap a heavy blanket over my tank to keep what heat it had. The only coral I appear to be loosing is one head of my lobo brain.

Ran into one of Kevin's clients tonight and he lost everything in his tank. He had some nice fish...hate to hear of another local person loosing their tank. They don't even have the compensation of having power yet.

How old are your light bulbs and how long are you leaving them on? Are you testing for phosphates? Those are usually what's behind the red algeas.

Maybe...phosphates are really hard to test for. Maybe cut back on your lighting?
