Loud overflow?

    How can I silence my overflow? It's so loud!!!

    ??? Square black boxes in the back corners of my tank? I'm not sure if that is what you wanted to know.... I think the Bulkhead/hole is 1 inch? It has a long mesh pipe with a thick round sponge filter that fits in the bulkhead/hole? sounds like it is gulping and gurgling.

    i have heard of people capping them and drilling holes int eh top and putting airline tubing in them for a silencer and i had one like that once that was very quite but i have never done it myself.

    It sounds like you need to make a Durso standpipe. They will eliminate almost all noise.

    I also use dursos on my overflows and they are all quiet. Very easy to build and very efficient.

    I 2nd it, a trip to home depot or a junk drawer should have all you need!
