Hey guys, Im new here, but wanted to share some of my pics. I have a 29G tank right now, but am working on getting a 90G. Cant wait!!! This one is when I first started it.
Thanks I love it! I just stare at it for hours. lol But Im sure most of yall can relate to that. I have a question. How does the open brain reproduce? Does it split or what? Just wondering if and how my red one will make another.
This coral is looks like a Scolymia. I have two of them, but I was under the impression that these rarely reproduce in an aquarium. They are incredibly beautiful. However, propagation isn't recommended as often the frag or primary colony or both will not survive. I have read that it can be done with a wet tile saw with a bilateral cut across the mouth. But from what I have read from folks like Anthony Calflo your best bet is to just feed them often and they have the possibility of splitting on their own. I haven't seen this happen. Maybe somebody else on here has. If so I would love to hear their success stories. I follow the same care for my scolymias as I do for Acans. I hope this helps and get luck with your tank. -JT
Very pretty tank & lovely open brain (Scoly) !!! Thanks for sharing ! I also have never heard of them splitting or reproducing in an aquarium, have read an article on fragging them, but have never seen it done by anyone in our club.
