I got a long tentacled plate coral (really pretty but not really pink as I was expecting) and small brain coral last week. The plate really extends its tentacles and has eaten a small silverside. The golfball-sized open brain just sits there but is kinda cool looking.

Most of those brains feed after lights out...once you thaw out your frozen food, use some of the water and a turkey baster and lightly "puff" some of the water over your brain....if the brain is hungry it will begin to swell up and the feeding tentacles around the mouth will extend. You may then begin feeding it with the turkey baster. Just gently squirt some mysis into the tentacles...you will see them grab the food...be prepared...they really put on a growth spurt when being target fed....I had one more than double in size in less than 6 months....You can also use this method during the day...once they know food is coming, it won't matter if the lights are on.
Don't try to feed the brain before it swells and the feeding tentacles are out...it's just a waste of food. I use a mix of oyster eggs, cyclops, plankton and mysis to feed all my LPS corals...Good luck...Nina

Wow, thanks for the tip. We'll try it and see what happens.
