Does anybody know of a way that I can pump my saltwater from a 5 gallon bucket into my display tank? I don't have a sump, so when I do my weekly water changes, I have to lift a 5 gallon bucket full of saltwater and dump it in the top of the display. It is probably good for me to lift the bucket, but I'm getting tired of doing it. If you can suggest any equipment that would help with this, I'd greatly appreciate it. It doesn't have to be something fancy, just something economical.

I use a maxi jet 1200 with a hose slipped over the output and drop the power head into the bucket and the other way around when I remove water from tank.

Thanks, something like that would work for sure. I just wasn't sure where to start looking!

I use a Sicce 3 that I use just like John except I just siphon my water with a 3/4" clear hose from Lowe's. Generally do 25-30 gallon changes. Takes 10 minutes or so to drain and add it back. I have a PVC fitting that I made that hangs in the tank. Hook the siphon hose to drain then change to the pump hose flip the switch and I'm done.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions. I'm going to research and try to order within the next week or so. I might have some questions arise. I'm not very mechanical.

I had to order some buffer & test kits, so I went ahead & ordered a Maxi Jet 1200 while I had free shipping. The only thing I should have to pickup is 1/2" tubing to make this work? I'm hoping that Home Depot has some.

Yep, you should get a barbed fitting with your pump. You might want to pick up some plumbers paste for the threads of the fitting.

Ok, I will look into that. It'll be nice not having to lift the bucket. I have to prop the bucket on top of the tank, because it's too heavy to hold while slowly pouring in water. I figure it's not too good to do that to the tank every week. Seems like it could weaken it over time.

I don't think maxi jets have threads

Your right Whitney, I read Mag Drive. That Maxi jet looks like a versitile pump.

Thanks everybody for your help. I got my pump in and tested it by adding my freshwater top off to the tank today. I think that it is exactly what I needed. My next water change is Monday, & that'll be the real test.
