    Do Sarcophytons (leathers) split/clone themselves?

The "baby" finally separated and attached to another rock.

It definitely was a "baby" that split off. We tried to place it on a rock. It seemed stable but has vanished -- it could have blown away or the interior re-decorator (hippo tang) moved it somewhere. Maybe we'll find it.

The definitely do. I should get a picture up of my large leather. It had a baby split off. The baby eventually has "walked" away from the parent. I looked yestrday and they were still attached by some tissue about the width of a string, but will soon be fully separated.

I have a big "mother" leather like that and it does that quite regularly. Sometimes as many as 5-6 pieces come off at one time. Now I have them everywhere!!!

I have that problem too, and I'm not really sure what I want to do about it. Leather's are pretty much impossible to get rid of without just taking the rock they are on out of the tank.

I tried scrubbing one rock with a wire brush until I could find no trace of the leather anymore. It must have still been there though because it grew back and I now have a perfect leather frag on that rock.

It looks like mine's cloning again.
