The articles on using low voltage electrical current to assist with coral growth stated the same reasons for coral reef declines in the Caribbean Sea, elevated water temperatures and storm damage. It's great to see a large scale restoration project like that. I have several friends and have been stationed with quite a few people that learned to dive just to check out the reefs around Okinawa. Everyone has always said how great they were.

I knew someone about 3 years ago whose son was an ichthyologist for the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. She said he spent a lot of time with the Emperor of Japan, who is or considers himself an ichthyologist too. I wonder if that has something to do with such a large scale restoration project.
