I currently have a Nautilus EX-24 Skimmer running with at QuietOne 6000 pump that I think that does not produes the froth of bubbles that I think is should... ( I do clean it )so I have placed a fine airstone infront of the pump to help the situation.
I have been looking at the needle wheel pumps and ponder the 1 to get....
I have looked at the Oceanrunner and the Octopus models.
Anyone have any thoughts or sugestions?
    Thanks,

Aren't Euroreef and ASM pretty much the standard in needle-wheels? My Euroreef sure makes some black skimmate.

I use ASM skimmers with sedra 9000 pumps, they make the sedra in several sizes. the needle wheel is a good design and makes almost milk like bubbles and produces the best skimate of any skimmer I have used.

My Sedra pump is loud. Euroreef has Eheim pumps as options.

Thanks guys! I think that I am going to consider the Seidra 9000. Do you guys think that it will have enough flow? its rated at 900 gph the QuitOne 6000 I have is rated @ 1500 gph thats about the flow that the skimmer that I have is rated at but.. I do have to control the input flow to the skimmer with a valve and open the outflow gate valve all the way.. Im probably going about that the wrong way arn't I...[IMG]

A little more details on my setup are that the skimmer and the pump are in a divided sump with the cylinder of the skimmer submerged almost to the bottom of the cup so to mantain the water level in skimmer.
Total water volume is about 140 ish ( 90 gal main and 75 gal sump 80% full )

    Thanks for all your coments

not sure how big your tank is but the asm-g4 i use is rated for 400 gl tank with the seidra on it. if your restricting the flow on the quite one then i would go with the seidra and save the energy cost.

If you use a ground probe along with a GFIC it will trip the GFIC when it detects any current to ground. That would be the best thing to prevent you or your tank from getting shocked.

Update on the new skimmer pump.
I have had it in place for about a month
The Sedra 9000 pump with needle wheel is working very well.
I am very impressed with the flow and volume of air being mixed into a great froth.
This makes my skimmer preform 5 time better.
Over all the pump is relatively quit.
    Thanks for your coments
