Hi Marti, This is Shane the President of MARSH as well as the webmaster. Kim passed along your question on spam to me.
Heres what we have done to try and minimize.
1) Make sure you have to be registered to post or reply in all forums.
2) Make users validate there email address when registering.
3) Stop spambit registration

(THis stops the spam bots from getting registrations to add links to your memberlist)
That covers 98% of the spam.
4) Anyone spamming (at this point its an actual person not a bot) account is blocked as well as IP and sometimes IP range.

Marti I attempted to install the plug in that was suggested but did not have time to see if it was working. I will let you know in a couple of days.

 

It appears to be working as I have received a few of the emails where they have been blocked.

I have been getting regular auto notification from the Spam Bot pluggin that it is blocking registrations from spammers so I believe that the program is working. Please let me know how whether you are seeing a decrease in the spam posts.
